The MonoMartyrs Seek Revenge
A preview of the upcoming "official" ZRP 1.05 version is available on the download page. Currently it is in two parts, the RC1 demo package and the RC1-to-RC2a update for it.
The demo is a preview prepackaged with a couple of minimods intended to extend the value of the free play mode you can enter at the end of the normal game (if you follow the "good ending" path).
The default minimods:
- Free-play enhancement: The MonoMartyrs Seek Vengeance -- much tougher baddies throughout the Zone
- Artifact Swap: Exchange a lot of artifacts for really good ones*
- NatVac's version of Decane's Quest Overhaul: Some quests can repeat, a couple more tasks added*
- Explosives Carry: some are very heavy*
*These mini-mods require a new ui_icon_equipment.dds file, included. It is not for use with mods that have their own.
The ZRP 1.05 RC1-to-RC2a update includes the following changes since 1.05 RC1:
General changes and tweaks:
- The permanent radiation bug is automatically cured after a save/reload. (NatVac)
- A possible crash when punched is now prevented. (barin)
- NPP map now split into two. PDA map of south portion shows better task markers, your position. (NatVac)
- Tweaks and fixes based on input from BobBQ, romulous, Storm Shadow State, ZaGaR. (NatVac)
- You can interrupt Sid's opening spiel. (Storm Shadow State)
- Fanatic doesn't get so upset when you have your weapon deployed. (Storm Shadow State)
- Kruglov comes to his senses when you talk to him. (NatVac per notanumber)
- Cosmetic improvements: PDA NPC statistics colored by faction, file dialogs support longer filenames. (NatVac)
- Def_box cases, crates again have a chance of good stuff (broken in RC2 update). (NatVac)
- More protection from mismatched mods and patches, preventing some bad saves. (NatVac)
- More Modifier options: Disable autoquests, change psi emitter damage type, tweak endurance. (NatVac)
- More debug functions: Show hit damage (including mutants), bump invisible bodies and crates. (NatVac)
- ZSU enhancements like initial hotkey selection of utility. (NatVac)
- Execute Script Command now has some convenience functions. (NatVac)
- All the stuff in the RC1-to-RC2 update is included. See below.
The ZRP 1.05 RC1-to-RC2 update includes the following changes since 1.05 RC1:
General changes and tweaks (NatVac):
- One more dynamically-added level changer. (NatVac, from bardak, IG2007)
- NPC threat aiming fixed. They now point at you instead of to your right. (artistpavel posted workaround)
- You can adjust the NPP blowout timer countdown's starting time at any point of play up to and including the start of the NPP level.
- The extra inventory texture has been removed to support all wide-screen formats. Background contrast improved.
- More vanilla-all.spawn-based game support: No sudden teleport to NPP from stadium entrance, another vanilla Pripyat crash fix.
- There is now an adjustable distance limit for the crate/box spawn workaround.
- More text cleanup.
- More debug support; remotely search all online mutant corpses and take any parts, or see on-screen and in PDA exactly how much damage your shots do to NPCs. (Optional)
The ZRP Support Utilities (NatVac; optional) consists of a new dialog listing the available host of fixes, workarounds, tweaks and cheats. Must be enabled first, and the scripts must be added separately according to your preferences and needs. The support is easily extended via drop-in third-party scripts, or roll-your-own. Examples of the 17 included scripts:
- Functions to nudge NPCs, even 'Kick' Kruglov if he just stands there, to get him going again.
- Spawn tools, including ways to spawn anything spawnable by section name even if it is not on the list. Spawn a cool toy or an invulnerability artifact.
- Relationship management tools. Faction join/leave, Faction repair, Bar relationship repair, Faction friendship.
- Set or reset info_portions.
- A script to force a secret from the next body searched, if any exist for the community/level.
- Simple interface to set the amount of money you have. (On your own head be it.)
- A cheesy repair mechanism. Repair weapons and armor, anywhere. (Eh.)
- Mark the Storming Abakan/Obokan, and track the gun's bearer, with or without the task. (The bearer has it; the game only updates the gun's marker when it is not stored.)
- A utility to execute Lua script commands. Run scripts and inspect/set variables. Anything you can do from within a script you can probably do here. Now you can dynamically execute commands to give yourself specific secrets, or all secrets at once, for an example. Now you can view all the Monolith videos and dreams, no matter where you are in the game. Great for scripters and modders. This one has a lot of potential.
The ZRP 1.05 RC1 portion includes the following changes since ZRP 1.05 Test R10:
Bug fixes and general changes:
- New location marker management; no more stuck markers. Smarter marker management. (Mr. Fusion)
- New Modifier warns which changes might be incompatible with mods. Many more options. (NatVac)
- New level changers added as you play the game. (NatVac, from bardak, IG2007)
- Playing a vanilla game? Free play now possible without starting a new game. You might have to throw a gun into one door jamb or teleport through the door, though. (NatVac)
- Various config file typos have been corrected (Don Reba).
- Cases/crates have improved item spawning; see below. (NatVac)
- Better contrast backgrounds, more room on search/trade and inventory screens. (NatVac, nandersen).
- Additional wide-screen inventory improvements. (Kosmokrator, NatVac)
- Rostok HUD minimap fixed. (Fatrap, NatVac).
- NPP map (south side) now shows player. (NatVac)
- You can explore the NPP after completing the game. (NatVac)
- Underground levels now properly positioned in PDA. (NatVac)
- More underground hints on PDA map have text. (Mr. Fusion)
- Psi Helmet available if you don't follow expected storyline. (NatVac)
- The chance of finding some box items is no longer zeroed by the game. (NatVac)
- Zombies (everyone) no longer fear fire when using SANB. (NatVac)
- You can heal someone without a medkit dialog by dropping a medkit nearby. (NatVac)
- The "Kill the Monolith Stalker" autoquest is tweaked. (NatVac)
- Barkeep's mutant part tasks have proper notes (Decane).
- EggChen's fire tweak for particles.xr (default; delete if you use his Particle Enhancement mod).
- (Optional) There's a new Duty mechanic: Captain Ivantsov. (BobBQ, NatVac, Mr. Fusion)
- Game clock on HUD (optional, default).
- Alternate named quicksave via Esc F5 or Esc F6. (NatVac)
- Named saves can have a predefined prefix. (NatVac)
- SMM image file, courtesy nandersen.
- Odds of artifacts appearing in crates fixed. (NatVac)
- Bug fixes from BobBQ, EggChen, nandersen, Racemate, romulous, ZaGaR.
- More English text improvements. (Mr. Fusion, NatVac)
- Additional minor bug fixes; see the readme. (various)
- Much more debug support; see below.
All.spawn changes (NatVac; requires new game if using Release 10 or earlier):
- Those dogs no longer spawn in Fox's house after you first rescue him.
- Map level changer markers for Rostok-to-Bar and AW-to-RF enabled.
- NW hangar guard in Garbage moved to better see the bandits, per BobBQ.
New "Experimental" Modifier options (Please READ the associated Config Notes):
- Mr. Fusion's Live Stalker Ranking -- best with new game.
- All Good Weather -- might be good for free play if you aren't already using a weather mod.
- Some weapons.ltx tweaks - make the game tougher.
Debug support enhancements (NatVac; requires enabling debug mode):
- More debug jump options: jump to wounded, jump to unsearched bodies, jump up (Esc D n, where height = 5n), jump down (through the ground, even), return to previous position (Esc D R, no need to install optional file). See cautions in DebugSupportChanges.txt.
- Remote grab of weapons and artifacts up to 75 meters ahead.
- Local grab of stuff (defaults to 10-meter radius) -- you can pull guns out of the ground, for example.
- Weapon cleanup -- store online guns on closest bodies.
- Controller kill -- if a controller causes the dBodyStateValide(b) crash, you can kill him first.
- Anomaly removal -- get rid of an anomaly that bugs you or the NPCs. (Some are now automatically removed when you enter the free play mode.)
- The new level changers can be added via key sequence at any time (progress-based).
- Time control -- Speed up/slow down time, 1X to 10000X absolute (NatVac), or 0.1X/10X relative (nandersen), with current time speed query capability. It's okay to save games with altered time; you can always reset it. Use as a workaround for dark nights if you don't have a sleeping bag mod.
- Improved debug body search options: jump to wounded, jump to unsearched bodies now go to nearest bodies. You can even remotely search an otherwise-unreachable body, get any secret, and take its inventory.
- Identify NPC health even if not "wounded". Drop a medkit to improve NPC health. Make more friends.
- Improved direction algorithm for grabbing items ahead or checking NPC health.
- Quick weapon destruction, with credit. This can save a lot of drudgery.
Cases/crates have improved item spawning. (NatVac)
Tweaks to xr_box.script should permit the following with use_workaround enabled (default) when you break a box or crate:
- Items should spawn on the surface, not fall through the floor.
- Electro artifacts should appear no matter what time of day.
- Possible fix for dual-core/multi-core delayed box/crate spawns.
- Option keep_spawns_in_pack to automatically store spawns if you still have spawn woes.
- Set use_workaround to false for old behavior.
- You can configure other case/crate options via the Modifier.
You can disable the MonoMartyr and Artifact Swap minimods if you wish. Although a new game is strongly suggested, folks have been enjoying this with existing ZRP-1.05-only games. It will even work if installed over vanilla patched to 1.0004, 1.0005 or 1.0006, but existing games are limited: they now have the free-play support when you complete the game, but without a couple of all.spawn-based level changers.
Please read the accompanying readme.txt file -- it references other files about crashes still in the game and other useful info.
